Dear family,
If I understand
correctly, I am always in the Central time zone. But we do not observe day light
savings. (Panama, I believe, does.) So when you were in day light savings, I
lined up with Utah, but now I am just an hour behind you.
Also, you
should know, for logistical reasons, we won't have p-day next Monday. So don't
expect an email from me that day. I believe we will have p-day later in the
week. We just don't know when.
So this week,
our big event was that we had a wedding. I am so happy to see this family now
as a complete family unit. We still have a little more work to do to get the
wife ready for baptism and even more to help the husband, but it's been such a
blessing to see how happy this family has been in these few days just from
starting their family the way God wants them to. It was quite an adventure. Up
until an hour before we had to leave, we weren't sure if we were going to have
transportation to get to the wedding, but the Hermano was able to get his van
working. Thus we went--the couple, their small kids, two witnesses, and the
missionaries, who served as moral support and photographers. I was really happy
for the family, but I will be even happier when they go to the temple someday.
Going and signing papers in a government office just can't compare with getting
married inside the House of God.
Other than that,
we keep teaching as usual. I think our area will be divided next transfer, so
we really need to work on finding lots of investigators in these next few
weeks. As always, it isn't too hard to find someone who will listen to us once
or twice, but it's much harder to find those who will come to church and start
to keep commitments. We did have one really neat experience contacting recently.
As we were going house to house, we met a lady named Ondina. My comp asked if
we could sing a hymn, and we sang I Am a Child of God (I think). While we were
singing, she started crying. When we asked, she said that she felt something.
We told her that was the Spirit testifying of the truth our message. We went
back once more and taught a lesson though her gate. She is friendly, but I
think she is afraid to really listen to us because she already knows on some
level that our message is true, but she is comfortable where she is right now.
Little by little, hopefully we can gain her confidence and build her faith.
Love,
Hermana Davis
