Dear family,
So this week we
had two Sisters Conferences--one in La Paz in La Lima and another in Miramar in
La Ceiba. And I got to go to both! Hna Hill and I were in charge of a
demonstration in the conference on mission cooking. We got one talented sister
to help us in La Paz and another to help us in Ceiba. We just asked the sisters
what supplies they needed and brought them to the conference so that they could
demonstrate and then we could all sample. It was nice to get ideas from other
sisters what we can cook. Often my cooking amounts to scrambled eggs or pasta
with a few veggies mixed in or on the side.
And we got
lucky! Very lucky. Each companionship of STLs had a part in the conferences, so
we got to be at both. President Klein only had space for one companionship of
sisters in his car driving to the next conference and he took Hna Hill and me.
(He took a different companionship on the way back.) But we had President and
Hna Klein to ourselves to ask whatever questions we wanted for two hours. And
we got to make a stop in Tela on the way down. A senior couple is coming in
this next transfer and President Klein wanted to see the proposed house for
where they will be living. And as the house is a stone's throw from the beach
we took a short jaunt out to the water. It was gorgeous!
At the
conference in Ceiba, I got to see friends I haven't seen in a while because
they have been on the other end of the mission, especially Hna Baltazar and Hna
Harrision, who have been on Roatan--isolated from the rest of the mission on
their own little island.
Then on
Saturday, we had a miracle. The family we are teaching agreed to get married!
The husband had wanted to get married before, but the wife hadn't accepted. We
taught the Proclamation on the family and emphasized that marriage is a
commandment, and the wife said she would say yes this time. So from there we
had to convince hno Arnold to swallow his pride and ask one more time--this
time on his knees. And she said yes, and he was pretty happy about that. We
celebrated with baleadas, soda, and chocolate.
Yesterday at
church I gave an impromptu talk, but that is just how it goes as a missionary.
You just have to be willing to do whatever whenever, because everyone thinks
you can. And really you can't, but you just pray really hard and usually it
works out okay.
I love you all
soooo much!
Hermana Davis
