Hello family!
Saturday we had a baptism!
And as of Sunday, Hermano Manuel is officially a member of the church! Hermana
Fuentes made a cake for the baptism. The cake itself was easy because it was
just from a box, but trying to make the icing from scratch (a different method
than how we make it) was almost a disaster. In the end, it turned out, and we
had refreshments to offer after the baptism.
On Tuesday we had a zone
meeting with President Klein that lasted most of the afternoon.
On Thursday I went on
divisions with Hna Ashcraft, who arrived one transfer after I did. Even though
I was with another American, we spoke almost no English. I guess we've learned
something in the months we've been here. That night we did a family home
evening with a family that's trying to activate the father. After the spiritual
part, we made baleadas. I managed to make a couple of tortillas that were
closer to circles than maps. I just might be able to make you baleadas when I
get home.
On Sunday we set out on a
quest to contact. We have almost no investigators right now. We met a few
people who are willing to receive us again. It's a good first step. That's how
it goes. After all, one of the greatest gifts our Heavenly Father gave us is
our agency. We can only invite and help, we aren't going to compel or coerce.
Last night I
ended up helping a member some with math and English homework. It's
surprisingly hard to help with math homework because I have to talk my way
around the content words that I don't know in Spanish, but somehow we manage.
And I learn a little more Spanish while I'm at it.
I love you all
lots. Have a wonderful week!
Hermana Davis
