Hi family!
Yesterday (Sunday) was a
great day. I got to play the music in church on a real piano. (Actually it's
electronic, but it's a decent piano. It sounds like a piano and has a sustain
pedal. On the other hand, in other areas, I have often played a keyboard which
was very hard to get to sound good.) So I was in music heaven.
Being in a branch is a very
different experience. Max attendance is around 80, but it can get much lower.
Yesterday was 77. It will be a lot easier for me to get to know the people. I
won't get lost. Not that I was ever going to get lost given that I am tall and
white and blonde. Well less white than I was a year ago and more blonde.
Yesterday we had an
interesting teaching opportunity. One of the ward members had told some
friends, who needed to interview a native English speaker as part of a school
assignment, that they could come interview me and the American elder in the
branch. So they conducted a short interview. My interviewer asked me questions
about colors and their meanings. The ward member bargained that after the
interviews we (the missionaries) could share a short message. So there we
were--the four of us missionaries, one ward member, and three students--sharing
about the Restoration in the branch president's office during Sunday school. I have
never had to coordinate an impromptu lesson with a set of Elders, but it turned
out surprising well, and the Spirit was definitely there. I am not sure if the
two young men listening will do much, but the young sister definitely felt
something. Whether she acts now or down the road, I know we planted an
important seed.
Well, it's changes week, but
I know that I am not going anywhere. In fact I rather expect to finish my
mission right where I am.
I love you all!
Hermana Davis
